April Male Athlete of the Month – Chris Grimes

How awesome is Chris?! The coaches all agree that he's a pleasure to have in class; He takes feedback well and applies it immediately, but most importantly, he's SMART about his workouts. He understands what he can do to push himself and continue to improve. He's involved in our CFNH community, cheers on his fellow athletes, and he's constantly working toward being better than yesterday.

When and where did you start CrossFitting?
I officially started in June of 2016 when I signed up for the on ramp program at CrossFit New haven.

We’re a few months into 2018- What are some of your new goals for 2018?
I have a few goals for 2018. On the CrossFit side of the house, the first is to defeat my long time nemeses; double-unders. I would also like to become proficient with pull ups or any variation thereof. Lastly, Toes to bar. On the Weightlifting side of the house, my goal is to focus on my form and technique.

What are some of your recent accomplishments of which you're most proud?
The most recent accomplishment that I am most proud of is competing in the Crossfit Open.

Do you adhere to any form of daily/weekly diet regimen to power your workouts?  What does your dream cheat meal/day look like?
I’ve become more mindful about what I eat and how much I eat. I have eliminated processed foods and most sugars from my diet and increased my daily protein intake. Other than that, I don’t really adhere to any specific type of diet.

Design 2 WODs:  1 that is your bread & butter, filled with your movement strengths; 1 that is all goats (movement weaknesses you feel you need to improve).
My bread and butter WOD would be 21-15-9 – Thrusters, Box Jumps, wall balls
My weakness WOD would be anything with running. I really need to get my run game back on track

How do you spend your time when you’re away from CFNH?
If I’m not working, I’m home with my family

What is one fact that other CFNHers may not know about you?
I love baseball. Go Mets

Do you have any motivational thoughts or suggestions to folks just getting started at CFNH?
It’s a process. Whatever your fitness level is coming in, you have to remember to trust the process. There will be times when you will say F**K this but you MUST trust the process. If it were easy, then everyone would be doing it.
