Stockings for Soldiers 2017

in The Whiteboard by Lindsay

Fellow CFNH athlete, Lisa Siedlarz, has a message for our community:

November kicks off the season of giving, and CFNH has always supported the gift of giving to great causes: Lift up Autism, APK Charities, and so many more.  In 2016, CFNH provided huge support for my annual Stockings for Soldiers drive.  We were a main drop off point for donations, a place to store the donations, and a place to hold the Stocking Stuffing event.  We stuffed (and delivered) 308 stockings to the V.A Hospital!

I am so grateful that this year, my 10th year of Stockings for Soldiers, CFNH will again be a major partner.  With the way this event has been growing, I have outgrown my house.

TEN YEARS. That is a huge milestone. What does this mean? For the month of November and until December 7th we collect your donations of toiletries, candy and snacks and various other items (list to follow) to fill and deliver jammed packed stockings to the VA hospital in West Haven.

If you can donate to this, monetary or from the list below, it is an amazing way to let our veterans know they are not forgotten. If you have children and they want to make cards to include in the stockings, it would be a great addition.

On December 9th, at 4:00 pm, I need volunteers to stuff stockings right here at CrossFit New Haven. I will provide turkey chili. It’s a fun, social event and I can’t do it without you!

If you have no plans December 9th, I can use volunteers to stuff stockings. I will feed you turkey chili. On Tuesday, December 12, we need volunteers to deliver the stockings to the VA. We meet at the gym at 6:00 pm. We needs cars, we need wagons too. (or muscles) You are also welcome to stay for the show.

I am accepting your donations from now until December 7th. You will see a large box decorated in Christmas wrap with this sign:

You may donate pre-stuffed stockings. Please label pre-stuffed stockings if for a female veteran. Hanukkah stockings are also welcome!
