in The Whiteboard by Coach Poach
New Haven is a wonderful city. Since I’ve started working down here in 2008 I’ve met some amazing people and had some great times. Thanks to CrossFit New Haven, I’ve met even more amazing people and had even better times. The universities in and around New Haven bring a lot of people to us for jobs, studies, shows, projects and more to help us create these good times. But as the saying goes, all good things must come to an end, and alas, this is one of those times.
In March we’ll be saying goodbye to two Coaches who are both moving on to new cities, and very exciting job opportunities. Our PHD candidate, Coach Emily, is headed down to Washington to continue doing neuroscience research at the National Institute of Mental Health. You’ll see her around through the end of March. Her coaching tenure at CrossFit New Haven was not too long, but it has been invaluable to have such a strong, driven individual on our staff. Please join me in congratulating Emily on the new opportunity and wishing her all the best in her next adventure.
We’ll also be saying goodbye to the staple of our afternoons, Coach Jared. Jared and his wife, Nikki, came to us from California so that she could take advantage of one of our amazing universities. We knew they would be heading back west sometime this year, but we thought it might be closer to summer. However, when an amazing opportunity presents itself you’d be crazy not to take it - trust me, I know. So when Jared was offered a job with NCFit (formally known as NorCal CrossFit) in San Francisco it was a no-brainer! Jared will be Coaching among some of the best CrossFitters and Coaches in the business along with the opportunity to help grow a new gym and foster a brand new community of like-minded individuals who want to get fit.
Emily will be coaching through March 1st, and Jared will be Coaching through March 10th. We’ll be having a Going Away Soiree at Cask Republic on Saturday, March 4th at 7:00pm for the both of them. All are welcome and I’m sure Jared and Emily would love to see you!
Congratulations to both of you. We love you both and will miss you like crazy!
