Hello District Athletic Club Members!

We are very excited to announce a revival of our Endurance Class at Crossfit New Haven, run by yours truly, Coach Nicole! The details and answers to all of your questions can be found below.

So what exactly is this “Endurance” Class?
Our Endurance Class will work to increase your endurance capacity through body weight and cardio based movements. Emphasis will be on interval training and technique throughout the duration of your workout as well as minimizing recovery time. Running and rowing technique will be emphasized in order to increase stamina in CrossFit workouts or other endurance based activities.

Is it open to all members?
YES! The Endurance Classes are available to all CrossFit New Haven members and will count as one of your "days per week" for those with three and four-times-per-week memberships. Since this program focuses primarily on running and rowing skills, bodyweight exercises, and of course, some time on the Assault Bikes, no prior CrossFit experience is needed! If you know people who would be interested in this please pass along this info!

I’m a really slow runner… Is this still for me?
Absolutely! Every workout can be modified to fit your specific needs as an athlete. In fact, if you consider yourself a “slow runner” this would be the perfect program for you to focus on your technique and improve your times.

When will classes be held?
Classes will take place 3 days a week with 2 different workouts. Those days and times are: TUESDAY 6:00-7:00 AM and THURSDAY 6:00-7:00 PM (Tuesday and Thursday will be the same WOD), and SATURDAY at 8:00 AM.

What if I can only make it one day a week?
Of course, in order to see maximum gains in your cardio endurance, it would be ideal to come two times per week. With that being said, you are still welcome to come once per week or drop in as you wish. As with any program here at CrossFit New Haven, consistency is key.

I have a friend who loves to run but doesn’t do Crossfit. Can he/she join?
As stated above, no prior CrossFit experience is needed. However, they will need to purchase a membership for DAC at the front desk and will also go through a fitness evaluation with one of our trainers to be sure they are ready before joining. Both for safety reasons and to ensure they're able to get the best results possible out of the program. 

So what do these EWODs look like?
You can be on the look-out for an Endurance Class workout preview in our regular CFNH programming in the next two weeks, first on Thursday, March 29th, and again on Friday, April 6th. This will give you an idea of what the workouts will look like (and feel like)!

Sounds fun! When does it start?
The first Endurance Class will be Tuesday, April 10th and 6:00 AM. Get ready!

Is there anything else I need to know?
YOU WILL NEED A WATCH OR TIMING DEVICE FOR EWOD! If you plan to join in the fun, be sure to get yourself something to keep track of your individual times. You will be responsible for knowing your times and when you should be resting or working, and the only way to do this is with some sort of watch or stopwatch. (**Though smartphones are wonderful, they are not recommended for the Endruance Classes as running with a phone in hand can be rather cumbersome.)
